Holy fuck. I'm not even done with this yet, and I'm feeling nauseous. Yeah, I'm married, but I sure didn't get married to have a sperm donor who takes out the trash sleeping next to me.
I know. I couldn't believe that someone actually wrote it. And it's not satire, or if it is, it's written in such a way that I didn't get it.

It's scary that this probably is more common an attitude than I realize. Like I said, I settled once and was bored. I'm never ever going to do it again.
out of the zillions of childfree women i know, from 16 to 60+, only one of them feels this way. yeah, i'm focusing more on the sperm donor aspect than the settling part of her piece, but mostly because...well, probably shouldn't post it in public. ;)

There's a card on Post Secret this week that REALLY sums up the alternate viewpoint on this: "Marriage to the wrong person is like having a cellmate, not a partner."

I think she has some valid points hidden by her blatantly stupid ones. Of *course* a real partner may not be someone you thought was exciting when you were younger and feeling wild. Does that mean the person you marry should bore you or be considered kinda meh? hell no. That's just a recipe for disaster.

I can admit that at this point, I'm fine with my career and living situation. I'd really really like a partner, and I AM worried I won't find one. But no way am I going to go with the first person with a pulse either. Ick.

I saw that postsecret (it's the first thing I do after I get my coffee on Sunday mornings) and thought of this too.

Thanks for sharing.

PS - are you going to be at PLA?
Nope, not going to PLA. Too bad, as I really enjoyed it when I went to Seattle, but it's not relevant to my life these days. I've always wanted to visit MN but it'll have to wait!
