Oh, I have no idea who was first. Zep? Jim Morrison? Jefferson Airplane? Nah, took me awhile to come around to Grace. It was probably Jim, becaue even as a kid I knew he was the hottest thing to ever hit rock and roll.

Feeding off Jay's post about the conspicuous consumerism of parenthood, I'm feeling the need to talk about the culture of pregnancy today. It's fashionable to be pregnant. And the fashion reflects it. Every time I go shopping with a friend of mine, we're amazed at the number of shirts that are designed to make young girls look pregnant. Look at
And this is the style today. Girls want to look pregnant. For all I know, girls want to be pregnant. And I honestly think this goes back to the lack of true sex education - and I hate that term, but I'll use it for now. We're not helping kids to understand how not to get pregnant (and abstinence-only education works about as well as a deterrent as the death penalty works to deter crime). And the new accessory for celebrities are either their pregnant bellies or their newborns. So the fashion industry has jumped on the bandwagon and made looking preggers cool.
As much as I'm a "whatever gets you through the day as long as you don't impose your beliefs on me" kind of person, I fear that this is going to result in more teen pregnancies. And no one can think that is a good thing...
When they get nervous, all their muscles stiffen. Tell me how that's a good thing, evolutionarily speaking. To me, that would give the predator the upper hand.
What's the best thing since sliced bread?
I hate this question, mostly because I hate presliced bread. Give me a really crusty loaf and allow me to rip chunks off of it and put real butter or a nice extra virgin olive oil on it? Bliss.
For a sandwich, a small baguette or cuban roll is best.

The one place I haven’t been, but want to visit before I die is: There's so many. Topping my list at the moment though is Paris, France. I've been to Paris, TX (USA) and wasn't impressed.
The weirdest place I’ve been was: hmmmm.... Well, I've been to Intercourse, PA, Hell, MI, (both in the USA), but I have to say the weirdest vibe I've ever gotten from a place was at the Dead Sea in Israel.
How I feel about flying: I don't mind the actual flying part. And I actually have enjoyed flying when I was at the controls (twice), but i detest all the bullshit surrounding air travel these days.
My last road trip was: I drove with my friend from Detroit, MI to Tampa, FL to bring back her Porsche. It was fun.
My train or boat adventure was: Don't much travel by either, but I have cruised Alaska (loved Alaska, hated the cruise part, too fru fru)
One question I’d like to ask everyone else in the group is: Are you open-minded and accepting of anything?
My favourite travel item is: hmmmm again. It often depends where I'm going, but I'd have to say that it's my journal.
I think that I am a ……… sort of a traveller: 3-4 star hotel traveller. I'm too old to want to do the backpack/hostel thing anymore, but don't need to be pampered. I wouldn't turn down a 5-star hotel if someone else was paying, though. Though the concept of abandoning it all to sail around the world, sleeping on the boat or in hammocks on quiet beaches sometimes holds great appeal.
