Show us the one thing that unfailingly makes you smile, no matter what.

I love this photo of my grandmother. She always makes me smile, but this photo, and the one that's on my desk at work (note to self: scan that photo) make me smile every time I see them.
I'm working on a presentation for FLA in 2 weeks and have run across this fabu book that every public librarian should read, Reference Librarianship: Notes From the Trenches by Charles Anderson and Peter Sprenkle (aka RefGrunt).
Honestly, if you've ever felt that you're the only one who feels the way you do about what you do and how you do it, Anderson and Sprenkle will show you that you're not alone.
The RefGrunt blog is also outstanding for this. It looks like he's updating occasionally again too after a brief hiatus.
Check it out! (oh and if you buy, let me know. Charles is a friend of mine & he'll be pleased to know people are reading his stuff.)
I still want to get a foot tattoo and probably will get something within the next couple years. I want to incorporate something from my ankle down to my toes, like a lizard with a tail or a series of frogs or something. I'm still working on it and, like any tattoo, it'll take awhile for me to really decide.
I've tried. I really have. And I may come back to it sporadically, but I just can't keep up with twitter. However, as a librarian, I feel it's my duty to be knowledgeable about as many of the latest tools that are out there. Some may work for me, some won't. But if I can pass them onto someone (either a coworker, colleague or patron) who will get use out of them, then part of my job is done.
So sorry to those who are tracking me via twitter. And, a sincere thanks to C for pointing it out to me. Keep sending those bleeding edge, web 2.0 tools to me. One may actually stick.
What's the infamous story people tell about you?

Oh, there are many.
- New Orleans (pretty much the whole ALA)
- The time my friend J and I crashed the private club in S. Philadelphia, drank until 4 and picked up some very cute guys
- The night at the castle when the Siamese Cat kept buying me whisky shots and the Senator wouldn't let me go
- Poledancing at Czar (mmm....that was fun)
- The night with my cousin T in Seattle when we bar hopped downtown
- The night with my friend J (different J, this one's male and gay) when we shot pool and drank ourselves silly
By now, you're all probably sick of seeing my face. Oh well, I've had at least one person tell me that the photos are interesting and she's checking daily to make sure I've put at least one on flickr. So, I might as well cross-post.
Steri-strips fell off last night after I showered. Still tender to the touch, but not bad. I have a follow-up doc appt this morning, so we'll see what he has to say.
Thanks to all for your good wishes and thoughts. They mean a lot to me and I really do appreciate them.
Well, the magenta is migrating down to below my eye and really looks like a bruise now. It still hurts to the touch, and if I smile too much, but that's better than the constant pain that was. Vision is still ok, though my eye got tired at a meeting yesterday (PowerPoint presentation with bad lighting) and I had to leave early.
Here's today's look:
Well, today, the eye is a bright magenta, but the places it hurts, the bony areas, are still swollen but not as discoloured as the eyelid, which doesn't really hurt. To appease my mom, I'm going to take photos every day. It'll keep her from coming down to take care of me. Click through for the flickr set.
Today, I lost a fight with a wet floor and this is the after effects. At least I didn't need stitches. And the bruising and swelling doesn't really come through in this photo. But click through to flickr for a couple more. I was really concerned that I broke my cheekbone, mostly because of the reconstructive surgery that I had on my upper jaw years ago. But no. The xrays were clean. It hurts like hell though.
