Yes. I'm posting a lyric of the day on the day itself - no one faint. This is because I finally listened to Sarah McLachlan's Rarities, B-Sides and Other Stuff Vol 2 tonight. (Yes, I'm in a Sarah mood today. The work related video showing this morning has made me a bit crazy all day.) And it's got at least 3 songs she's done that I didn't have and was dying for: Blackbird, Just Like Me, and The Rainbow Connection. I had seen her perform Blackbird in concert during the Afterglow tour and it is fantastic. And I'm sure, like the Fallen video I tried to embed earlier I won't be able to do this one either. So here's a link (not the whole cover, but a decent capture from the tour).
And here are the lyrics.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night.
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arrive.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night.
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see.
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
- Lennon/McCarthy, "Blackbird"
I'm feeling sentimental this morning.
There are places I remember,
All my life.
Though some have changed,
Some forever, not for better.
And some have gone
And some remained.
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends that I still can recall.
Some are dead and some are living -
In my life, I loved them all.
But all these friends and lovers -
Still no one compares with you.
And these memories lose their meaning,
When I think of love as something new.
No I will never
Ever lose affection
For people and things
That went before,
I'll often stop and think about them.
In my life, I loved you more
And I know I'll never lose affection
- Lennon/McCartney, "In My Life"
We're playing those mind games
Together
Pushing the barriers
Planting the seeds
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the mantra: peace on earth
We all been playing those mind games
Forever
Some kind of druid dudes
Lifting the veil
- John Lennon, "Mind Games"
I sometimes wonder if someone's playing with me.
