What's the best photo you took this year?  Show and tell!

It's actually between 2 or 3, all for different reasons.

1)  Because it's tough to get a decent shot of yourself at this angle.  

2) She's lit so well and has such a smirk on her face.
3) Because her expression says "Please adopt me and love me."

Bookishbiker asked in my last post why I get frog tattoos.  I figured instead of replying to her comment, well, while I was replying to her comment, I'd make a separate post out of it because it became long and stand alone.

I've always thought that frogs are beautiful - especially the brightly colored rainforest ones.  When they started dying off and being hatched with genetic defects due to environmental degradation, I really latched on to them as a symbol of health and balance.  They're also a female symbol from forever for fertility. 

Now, the last part makes me laugh because of my lack of like for kids.  However, fertility has all sorts of meanings be it creative, social, professional, personal.  It doesn't have to relate directly to procreation.

Frogs are special.  They're the canary in the coal mine for what is happening on the planet.  I've incorporated them into my life as a symbol that I'm doing ok.  That I'm in balance and have achieved something that I've wanted or that makes me better.

I get tattoos for specific reasons.  Not generally on a whim.  Today was part whim, part specific reasons.  The tattoo is an adaptation of a necklace I purchased during the weekend when I really started to question how happy I was in my marriage and whether or not I was living true to me.  I only recognize this looking back as the beginning of the road to self awareness that I'm on.  So when K's mom said she wanted a tattoo and K asked if I wanted to go with her and get one, I said sure.  And the artist made this from the metal necklace I wear often.

It's not the big piece I'm getting when the divorce goes through.  That'll be a set of frogs on my right hip (you know, to match the left hip). But this is smallish and a good adaptation of the actual necklace. 

Self awareness is a journey.  My body is its memorykeeper.

This is a brilliant tattoo!

I still want to get a foot tattoo and probably will get something within the next couple years.  I want to incorporate something from my ankle down to my toes, like a lizard with a tail or a series of frogs or something.  I'm still working on it and, like any tattoo, it'll take awhile for me to really decide.

Talk about serendipity.  I just told a friend that I would post a photo of my tattoo.  And I really can't live without it. ;)

Do you have any tattoos? If not, if you were going to get inked, what would you get?

OMFSM!  A nexgen-l question.  I should run screaming.  But, alas, I won't.  I have 2 tattoos: a string of roses that runs from my left hipbone to my pubic hair line and 2 frogs on my left hip.  I will one day get more.  But they need to call to me.  I also want to get the roses reshot or redone to match the frogs more.  Not sure ho/when I'm going to do that.
